Environmental Triggers

I love a good cautionary tale, and Bev over at Asperger Square 8 has one. Read it here (reprinted with permission), or read it there, but whatever you do, read it. Comments at her place.

Asperger Square 8

Environmental Triggers

Sally’s parents have gone out for the evening. She walks into their bedroom and opens the drawer of the nightstand. As she has done many times before, she holds the loaded gun to her head while looking in the mirror. Someday she will do it. But not now, not like this.

Anne is drunk again. She is always drunk. She has climbed onto the roof of the neighbor’s house and is looking for an unlocked window. She is angry that they said she could not come in, and is determined to prove them wrong. Soon, the police will arrive. The ladder has fallen, and Anne must jump from the roof.

In case you missed that episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition that featured the O’Donnell family (including Autism Hub’s very own Mom26children), it’ll be on again tonight on ABC.

Sunday, August 19, 8/6c
“O’Donnell Family”
The only documented family in the U.S. with five autistic children will receive a much needed home. Country music star Trace Adkins performs at a benefit for the family.

Good stuff for a deserving family!

Yer Not Buying Enough Zeolite

Forrist Lytehaause

“Forrist is the founder of the National Response Corporation, for years the largest classified ad placement service in the United States and Canada, creator of www.marlana.org - an internet based counseling service, and producer of the Advanced Internet Marketing Techniques audio series.” Source

“Forrist Lytehaause knows all the insider tricks about internet marketing — and happily shares them with you.” Source

I recently checked out the zeolite autism study website for the first time in months. My opinion is that Forrist Lytehaause has apparently tried to make the website appear a little more “sciency”, but fails miserably by citing even more scientific garbage than he has in the past. The home page even includes references to the crap baby teeth study, as well as the often mentioned, but yet to be published chelation study. But what’s really funny to me, is the fact that this website still appears to be promoting a ‘zeolite autism study’.

“Licensed” In Arizona

Licensed Arizona 'Homeopath' Jeff Bradstreet Licensed Arizona 'Homeopath' Jeff Bradstreet Licensed Arizona 'Homeopath' Jeff Bradstreet Licensed Arizona 'Homeopath' Jeff Bradstreet

“We are happy to announce that Dr. Bradstreet is now licensed in Arizona and scheduling appointments in his Phoenix office.”

That fresh in from Dr. Jeff Bradstreet’s ICDRC website.

Hmm, a search for licensed MD’s in Arizona with the last name of “Bradstreet” turns up zero results.

http://www.azmd.gov/

(Click on “Doctor Search”, type in “Bradstreet” in the “Last Name” field, and click on the “Name Search” button).

A search for licensed DO’s in Arizona with the last name of “Bradstreet” turns up zero results too.

http://www.azosteoboard.org/profile/getlicense.asp

(Type in “Bradstreet” in the “Last Name” field, and click on the “Name Search” button).

How can that be? Why would Bradstreet’s ICDRC website state that Dr. Bradstreet is “now licensed in Arizona and scheduling appointments in his Phoenix office”?

Admittedly, I don’t follow the details of the Omnibus Autism Proceeding in the US Court of Federal Claims too closely, other than to occasionally skim through a transcript. In case you’ve been on summer vacation, Autism Diva has read through more, and done a great job of writing about some of the recent activities:

Cedillo v HSS vaccine hearing
More: Autism Omnibus hearing
Omnibus hearing: Kennedy
Omnibus hearing: Byers
Omnibus hearing: Kinsbourne
Omnibus hearing: Fombonne
Omnibus hearing: Cook
Omnibus hearing: Wiznitzer
Omnibus hearing: Ward and Bustin
Omnibus hearing: Hanauer and McCusker
LA Times on the Omnibus hearing
Omnibus hearing: Chadwick and Brent
Omnibus hearing: Fombonne on epidemiology
Omnibus hearing: Griffin
Omnibus hearing: Closing statement, petitioners, etc

Some readers may find this interesting.

More details on the latest from Autism Diva.
