JB Handley was bragging on EoHam that the whole Jenny McCarthy thing was a “sh*t storm”. I’d have to agree with him on that one. Everyone is throwing around stuff that is the quality of feces and calling it advocacy and science, and it stinks, really badly. Notice that he then compares to Jenny’s advocacy to a cat defecating on a neighbor’s lawn.
You’re video is apt.

Nice work! That couch potato actually looks like the Handley-Nick Nolte mug shot that Diva likes to post, and to be honest, the man himself in his immortal “autism is a myth” television interview.

Well, the Jenny McCarthy circus could be a good thing actually. It brings attention to the debate, which most people are unaware of. Most reasonable people will figure out which side has merit.

I bet that’s a green lawn though.

Seriously, you need to put a warning label on things like this video:
“Do not drink or eat while watching this video”
I don’t know how I’ll get the crumbs off my screen and out of my keyboard.

So, I am very new to the entire autism community. My daughter has Aspergers- and I am trying to find her the best doctor to begin taking her to that will be good for her. Does anyone have any input about AZ doctors that are familiar with this, and will be more sympathetic when check ups, etc. occur? Also, is a private counselor/therapist a good thing for her? Or a sham? Will this help her emotionally at all? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I also wanted to ask about what IS good treatment/help that I can turn to? There is SOOO much out there that I am overwhelmed. Any advice in this issue is also appreciated… I just dont know what’s good, bad, harmful, helpful, etc…..and reading millions upon millons of articals, comments, links, etc. is just even more confusing than helpful! *sigh*

Welcome Jaymey.
I’m not convinced “sympathy” is required. But, if you mean “understanding”, which might need to include accomodation and flexibility from time to time, I’m with you. We were fortunate to have a board-certified pediatrician who happens to be flexible, a great listener, and very thorough, in an evidence-based practice. As far as whether or not a private counselor/therapist is a good thing for her, there is no way for me to know, nor do I offer such advice.
I’m sorry Jaymey, but I try not to offer personal advice over the internet. If you want to contact me by e-mail, you can. I may be able to put you in touch with some resources in Arizona that you might find appropriate. See the Comments/Contact section in the upper left corner.

Hi Cj,
Send an e-mail to: comments autismstreet org. Insert the @ and the dot in the appropriate places. I may know someone who has an e-mail address for Autism Diva. I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try to pass it along.

I wanted to shared the same opinion as Jenny McCarthy about autism. I am a parent of three autistic children and I do believe to this day that vaccination had a lot to do with my kids condition. My wife and I noticed the change right after the MMR vaccine. I dont know how to get in contact with her but i hope this message reaches her and every other parent affected by the mercury in vaccines.
Thanks

Moises, you know the MMR never contained mercury, right?
Please don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Do’C,
You are obviously uninformed as the MMR still does contain toxins including mercury and aluminum and further is the only shot combining 3 live viruses. Before you’re critical of a parent of autistic children you should get your facts straight.

Kate,
See MMR
“Never contained Thimerosal”

Keep up the good work on autism. You are what we need.
Comment by Matt — 4 April, 2008 @ 2:04 pm
Kate,
thimerosal would kill the live viruses in the MMR. It is not and has not been used in MMR.

i have a 12 year old son with moderate autism and have talked to numerous doctors about your claim to have cured your son of autism and they said that you a not telling the complete truth that each child with autism is different and autism can never be cured
