Autism, Clifford Shoemaker, and Kathleen Seidel

Bloggers take note. In case you have not already heard…

May contain explicit language

Why on earth was Kathleen Seidel subpoenaed in a lawsuit she is not a party to and has nothing to do with?

Could it have something to do with the “to be continued” that followed the closing paragraph of this article?

These nonprecedential decisions reveal only a portion of Mr. Shoemaker’s VICP income since June 2006; they pertain to fee requests to which HHS and the presiding Special Master raised few objections. In contrast, published decisions on fees and costs offer a more detailed view of controversies calling for a comprehensive judicial analysis, and of the billing practices of petitioners’ attorneys.

You decide!

    Why certainly, and it’s working!

Even if the subpoena gets thrown out (which it almost certainly will), there is a very low chance of any significant sanction against Shoemaker, and in the meantime it’s accomplishing it’s goal.

By forcing Kathleen into a defensive posture he’s prevented her from publishing any follow up on the first article. Even when she does have the time to do so, the initial momentum will have been lost, and it will have less impact.

Now if, on the other hand, a wide swath of the blogosphere picks up this story (on the harassment of Kathleen by legal means) then perhaps the main stream media will also pick it up, and the whole plan will backfire in Shoemaker’s face.

Is there any chance of a transcript of the video being made available? I’m legally blind and can’t read the text.

    Fledchen,

I may have time to transcribe it for you tonight, if not then, then perhaps Tuesday night. Thank you for asking. No need to check back, I’ll e-mail it to you (and post a link to the transcription as soon as it’s available).
